Frequently asked
Questions & answers
- Do I need an account to shorten a link?
- No. Anyone can shorten an http or https URL for free with no sign-up. Signing in with Google unlocks custom slugs, expiry dates, QR codes and per-link analytics.
- What is the 10-second preview page?
- When someone opens a nxsh.click link, they first see a preview of the destination — its title, description, favicon and full URL — with a 10-second countdown, then are redirected automatically. It means people always know where a link leads before they arrive.
- How does nxsh.click keep links safe?
- Every destination is checked against Google Safe Browsing when the link is created, so URLs flagged for phishing, malware or unwanted software cannot be shortened. Administrators can also ban a link at any time, which stops it from redirecting.
- How do you stop bots and spam?
- Every shorten request passes an invisible Cloudflare Turnstile check that is verified on our server before a link is created, plus rate limiting on the API. There are no CAPTCHAs to solve.
- Can I choose a custom short link?
- Members can set a custom slug such as nxsh.click/launch24, as long as it is available and not a reserved word. Anonymous links always get a random short code.
- Do links expire?
- Only if you set an expiry date on a link from your dashboard. Links without an expiry date never expire. Expired links show a status page instead of redirecting.
- What analytics do you collect, and is it private?
- For each click we store only the country (from an edge geo header), the referrer host, and coarse device, browser and operating-system information. We never store raw IP addresses.
- Can I get a QR code for my link?
- Yes. Signed-in members can download a PNG QR code for any of their links from the dashboard.
